Synfig studio

Can’t spare the cash for Adobe’s well-known but expensive Flash program? Fear not, with due diligence, you too can learn the art of flash animation all without the hefty expenses associated with buying proprietary software. Synfig studio is one such program in its early infancy, yet its robust feature set are closely reaching to that of Flash. Scripting like those in Flash aren’t yet implemented nor could you output your work in the popular .swf format, but for what it can do it does it well enough to be satisfactory. There’s the old frame by frame editing of vector graphics complete with audio support to start you off, or you can choose to let the software automatically transition frames. Still, I must mention that the software is not complete so professionals should still stick to using Flash.
